Process

My sketchbook entries record quick impressions, inspirations and observations from travels near and far. I use these sketches as a primary source for my work.

There's an immediacy to sketching that has always intrigued me. My sketches are intuitive; they capture a feeling or a moment, evocative of a place or experience. What's challenging for me as an artist is to keep that fresh and soulful artist's hand throughout the process of design to be embodied in the finished piece.

Bringing these images to life with repurposed mooring buoys or industrial steel plate as my canvas presents their own set of challenges and opportunities.
